Danish food known around the world
A blue tin of butter cookies, a block of butter and a Danish pastry are how many people first meet Danish food, and some of those names go back more than a century. Denmark has long exported butter cookies, above all to the United States and Asia. Lurpak butter, first marked in 1901, is sold in more than 75 countries. The Copenhagen bakery chain Lagkagehuset trades abroad as Ole & Steen, with bakeries in England and New York.
