Danish cargo bikes: the makers to know
The long john, the two-wheeled cargo bike with a low load bed in front of the rider, was first built by Smith & Co. in Odense and shown to the public at the Wembley exhibition in 1924; it is still called the "Danish cargo bike" in Dutch. Cargo bikes are now a signature of Copenhagen, where makers such as Christiania Bikes, Nihola and Larry vs Harry design them.
