Why it is renowned

The MK1 was a cargo trike whose whole frame tilted over through corners on pivoting arms at each front wheel, so it rode like a regular road bike instead of holding the rider upright like most cargo bikes.1 New Atlas, reporting its launch in January 2014, wrote that its Balance Point Tilting system gave a more spirited ride and more stability in corners.2

The story

The MK1 went on sale in January 2014 in Copenhagen, alongside an electric-assist model, the Mk1-e, with shipping to other markets planned for that spring.2 It was hand built in Copenhagen's meatpacking district on a powder-coated 7005 T6 aluminium frame, with an ABS box of 90 by 60 by 60 cm, a NuVinci N360 hub gear and Tektro hydraulic disc brakes on all three wheels.3 The box seated two children up to six or seven years old, and the bike came in matte black or white; the MK1-E was the same bike with a Bosch Performance Line motor.3 The MK1 is no longer made: the maker's range today lists only the MK1-E Gen. 3 Vario and the MK1-E Business.4
