Why it is renowned
The Family is Nihola's most popular model for families with children.1 After testing, the Danish newspaper Politiken and the Dutch cyclists' union Fietsersbond each named it the best three-wheeled cargo bike for carrying children.1
Its cabin is the point of the design: a closed double-tube frame with no corners, its top and bottom tubes welded together with five vertical steel sections, so the children sit inside a frame rather than in an open box.1
The story
The Family seats two children up to seven or eight years old on a bench and carries up to 100 kg in the cabin; the bench comes out without tools to make room for a carry cot or a car seat.1
The frame is made in Denmark and powder-coated black, with stainless steel screws and fittings and a steering with a hydraulic damper; the cabin comes in eight colours.1 It is two metres long, 89 cm wide and weighs 32 kg, with an eight-speed Shimano Nexus hub.1
