Why it is renowned

The Trike was XYZ Cargo's first commercial model, introduced in 2012; its success led to a production facility in Copenhagen.1 Unlike conventional cargo trikes it steers by the Ackermann principle used in cars, which makes it less prone to tipping.2

The story

The artist group N55, led by Ion Sørvin, built its first space-frame vehicle with Till Wolfer in its Copenhagen studio in 2011 for a public artwork in Belgium; the Trike followed a year later.1 It weighs 34 kg, on an anodised aluminium frame held with stainless-steel bolts and self-securing nuts.2 The front box takes 150 kg behind clear polycarbonate panels.2
