Why it is renowned

The Bullitt was first shown at the Berlin Fahrradschau on 1 September 2008 and became a breakthrough for the modern cargo bike: it weighed half as much as the classic long john.¹ The American cycling site The Radavist has visited the company in Copenhagen, and a special Paris edition marked the Cycle Messenger World Championships.² The Norwegian Cargobike Magazine covered the launch of the electric eBullitt in Berlin in 2015.¹

The story

Lars Malmborg, a bicycle designer, and Hans Bullitt Fogh, a carpenter who used a long john for work, set out to build a lighter and faster version of the Danish long john.¹ The frame is made of large aluminium tubes; Malmborg spends weeks each year with the frame builders in Taiwan, and the company keeps its base and shop in Copenhagen.¹ Its storefront on Frederiksborggade shows the whole range.² The Bullitt is modular, with setups for families, commuting and business.³
