Why it is renowned

Raidho is known in high-end audio for its planar ribbon tweeter, an 11-micron foil built by hand at the factory, and for drivers with ceramic, tantalum and diamond-coated cones.¹² Its speakers are reviewed in the international hi-fi press: Roy Gregory wrote about the company and its factory for The Audio Beat in 2019, and 6moons reviewed the TD1.2 monitor, citing earlier reviews in The Absolute Sound and Hi-Fi+.³²

Raidho has partners and distributors in Europe, Asia and the Americas.⁴ Its owner, Dantax, points to prizes and awards from reviewers, magazines and hi-fi shows around the world, and the maker lists awards for its speakers in every year from 2012 to 2026.⁵⁶

The story

Raidho began as an independent company that collapsed in 2009. Dantax, a Danish audio company in Pandrup that had run the Scan-Speak driver factory from 1977, bought its assets out of administration that year and took the original design team back two weeks later.³⁵ Dantax then worked on consistency in production and on the crossovers, and used Raidho's technology in its more affordable Scansonic range.³

In December 2017 Dantax bought the Danish audio company Gamut, bringing its owner and designer Benno Baun Meldgaard to the group; he went on to rework the Raidho range, starting with the D1.1 designed by Michael Børresen.³² Each speaker is assembled by one person at the factory in Denmark, then listened to and measured against a master reference of its model; the drivers and tweeter are made in-house or by local companies.⁷¹
