Why it is renowned

Børresen speakers are reviewed in the international hi-fi press. Enjoy the Music.com gave the 01 stand monitor its US premiere review in 2019 and returned in 2026 for the T1 Silver Supreme Edition.¹ The maker lists a review in The Absolute Sound, Hi-Fi+ Editor's Choice awards for 2026 and a Best in Show at T.H.E. Show New York in 2025.² Its speakers are sold through dealers in Europe, Asia, North America, South America and Oceania.³

The story

Lars Kristensen ran a hi-fi shop in Aalborg in the 1980s, where he met Michael Børresen, then an engineering student.⁴ The two co-founded the speaker maker Raidho in 2003 and sold their stake in 2017 to start again in Aalborg under UpperLevel ApS, now Audio Group Denmark.¹ The Børresen 01 monitor was the first speaker of the new company.¹

The drivers use a patented iron-free motor system, and the tweeter is a planar ribbon; metal parts are cryogenically treated, and some models use zirconium and titanium.⁵¹ Every speaker is hand-assembled, measured and checked at the company's headquarters in Aalborg.⁵⁴ The range runs from the X-series to the M-series at the top.⁵
