Why it is renowned

Audiovector is known abroad for tall, narrow floorstanding loudspeakers in its R and QR ranges, many of which owners can upgrade step by step to a higher grade.¹² The American magazine The Absolute Sound has reviewed both its flagship R 10 Arreté and the Trapeze Reimagined, noting that the company builds everything from affordable bookshelf models to statement towers at its factory outside Copenhagen.²¹

The speakers are sold through distributors and dealers across Europe, in the United States and Canada, in South America, in much of Asia from Japan to India, in Australia, in the Middle East and in South Africa.³

The story

Ole Klifoth, a music lover with experience in the hi-fi trade, founded Audiovector in Copenhagen in 1979 after failing to find a speaker he liked.⁴ His first design was a large six-way model with eight drivers; the smaller three-way Trapez followed and became the company's first success.¹ Its ideas of linear dynamics, linear phase and a 6 dB per octave crossover still shape the range.⁵

The company is still owned by the family. Mads Klifoth, Ole's son, has run it since 2015 and widened its distribution abroad, while Ole remains in charge of research and development.⁴ Every loudspeaker is designed, developed and assembled by hand in-house at the factory in Skovlunde, north-west of Copenhagen.⁴⁶
