Why it is renowned

Brdr. Krüger made the Arv chairs and tables, designed by Studio David Thulstrup, for noma when the restaurant moved to Christianshavn in Copenhagen.¹ The collection made its UK debut at Coexistence in London in November 2018, with an installation of Arv and other Brdr. Krüger pieces shown there until January 2019.¹ The London trade magazine OnOffice covered the collection and the company's workshop in 2018.² In 2025 the Arv Dining Chair and Arv Lounge Chair furnished The Dinesen Apartment by David Thulstrup in Brooklyn, New York, open until February 2026.³

The company also makes Hans Bølling's Tray Table of 1963, and works with designers and architects including Nanna Ditzel, Henning Larsen, David Thulstrup and OEO Studio.⁴⁵

The story

The brothers Theodor and Ferdinand Krüger founded Brdr. Krüger as a woodturning workshop in Copenhagen in 1886.⁴ The siblings Jonas and Julie Krüger, the fifth generation, run it today, Jonas as creative director, and the furniture is made in the family's own workshop in Denmark.⁴¹ Their parents, Niels and Jyliane, turned the workshop into a design brand in its own right from 2013.² The showroom is at Bredgade 28B in Copenhagen, by the entrance to the Odd Fellow Mansion.⁴

The Arv chair is oak with a seat and back of woven Danish paper cord; its branch-like frame joins 15 parts, milled partly by CNC and finished by hand.² Studio David Thulstrup showed the sketches to Brdr. Krüger, which had a prototype ready within a week.² The Bølling Tray Table holds two loose trays that turn over for a second colour, and ships flat.⁵
