Why it is renowned

PP Møbler makes the Round Chair, which the American magazine Interiors called the most beautiful chair in the world and which seated Nixon and Kennedy at the first televised presidential debate in 1960.¹² Wegner himself urged the workshop to sell under its own name, designed its logo and gave it much of his later work.²¹

The story

The brothers Ejnar and Lars Peder Pedersen founded the workshop; in 1954 it had ten craftsmen.³ Through the 1950s and 1960s it worked as a subcontractor, making the frame of Wegner's Papa Bear Chair for A.P. Stolen, and Wegner used it for prototypes.² In 1969 he designed the PP201 and PP203 for it alone, and in 1990 the company took over the Wegner collection first made by Johannes Hansen.² In 1978 DFDS ordered 800 Wegner chairs from it for the ferry Dana Anglia.¹ Ejnar Pedersen began handing the workshop to the next generation in 1998.³
