Why it is renowned
Brdr. Krüger calls the tray table a symbol of the playful functionalism of the Danish Modern years and a Danish classic.1 A limited edition of 500 is made in Designmuseum Danmark's colour.1
The story
The Danish architect Hans Bølling designed the table in 1963 as a light piece that is easy to move.1 Two loose trays sit in a turned wooden frame; each tray has a different laminate colour on either side, so it can be turned over, and a veneer version is also made.1 It comes in two sizes, 50 and 60 centimetres across, is used as a serving trolley, bar cart, bedside or side table, and ships flat.1 Carpenters make it in Brdr. Krüger's workshop in Denmark.1 At 91 Bølling drew the HB Collection of a lounge chair, coffee table and stool from the same idea.1
