Why it is renowned
DALI began exporting in 1990, opened offices in Germany in 2001 and the UK in 2005, and was sold in more than 50 countries by 2006.1 Its speakers have won several EISA awards, among them the Ikon 6 MK2, Fazon F5, Epicon 8, Kubik Free and Rubicon LCR, and its IO-6 won the EISA award for best headphones in 2020–21.21
The story
Peter Lyngdorf founded DALI in 1983, coming from the Scandinavian hi-fi chain Hi-Fi Klubben.1 The first speaker, the DALI 2, came in 1984, and in 1986 the company built its headquarters and factory at Nørager, where it still develops, assembles and tests its speakers.1 It later worked with ribbon tweeters in the Dacapo of 1988 and the Megaline of 1996, a line-source speaker with six ribbon tweeters and 24 bass and midrange drivers.1
