Why it is renowned

The British magazine What Hi-Fi? praised the Rubicon 2 for its speed and agility, its stereo imaging and its build, and ended its review saying its testers were big fans.1 DALI records that it was widely praised and soon became a classic.2

The story

The Rubicon series came in 2014, placed just below DALI's Epicon line, and carried over Epicon's SMC magnet technology.21 In the Rubicon 2 a pole piece of soft magnetic compound, surrounded by a slitted copper cap, lowered distortion in the drivers.3

The cabinet was solid wood laminate, with separate chambers so each driver could be tuned on its own, and held an oversized 29 mm soft-dome tweeter taken from the Epicon and a 6½-inch wood-fibre woofer in a cast-aluminium chassis.31 Its lines built on DALI's earlier Mentor Menuet, and it came in high-gloss white, high-gloss black, Rosso and walnut.3 The Rubicon 2 is no longer made, and DALI lists it among its discontinued speakers.3
