Why it is renowned
Robert E. Greene of The Absolute Sound named the Megaline among a handful of speakers that come close to reproducing large-scale music at home, with a convincing sense of the hall it was recorded in.1 DALI counts it among the most distinguished designs it has made.2
The story
DALI built the Megaline in 1996 as a showcase of its engineering.2 Each speaker is a line source with six dipole ribbon tweeters and 24 bass and midrange drivers made for it, aiming at low distortion and wide dynamic range.2 The ribbons refined a technique DALI had developed in-house for the Dacapo of 1988 and used again in the Skyline.2
