Why it is renowned

The German magazine Fidelity reviewed the I-588 integrated amplifier in 2026 and wrote that Aavik had risen within a few years into the ranks of the industry's established names.¹ The maker lists Hi-Fi+ Editor's Choice awards for 2026 for the I-880, I-188 and D-580, a Fidelity Superior Award for the I-588 and a review in the German magazine Stereo.² Aavik is sold through dealers in Europe, Asia, North America, South America and Oceania.³

The story

Aavik belongs to Audio Group Denmark, founded in Aalborg by Lars Kristensen and Michael Børresen, who met there in the 1980s. They started the cable and power brand Ansuz in 2012, followed by Aavik for electronics and Børresen for loudspeakers.⁴ The name means "small bay" in Danish.⁵

The I-588 was designed by Michael Børresen and Flemming E. Rasmussen; it uses Class D output stages of 300 watts a channel, active Tesla coils and analog dither circuits to lower noise.¹ The range covers integrated, power and pre-amplifiers, DACs, phono stages and streamers, and each unit is assembled and tested at the headquarters in Aalborg.⁵⁴
