Why it is renowned

Vogue Hong Kong named Rudolph Care among the Danish beauty brands to know in 2019, for its açai-based skincare and its self-tanning drops.¹ Scandinavia Standard lists it among the Danish skincare brands to know and singles out its sun protection and its Açai Facial Oil.² It is sold through KICKS in Sweden, Oh My Cream in Paris and London, and retailers in Norway, Spain, Germany and Luxembourg.³

The story

Andrea Elisabeth Rudolph, then a journalist and TV and radio host, founded Rudolph Care in Copenhagen in 2009, after a blood test during her first pregnancy in 2006 showed harmful chemicals in her body.⁴ She launched the first eight products that year, all formulated around the Brazilian açai berry, which she had come to know on a trip to Rio de Janeiro.⁴ The company began as a one-woman business in a Frederiksberg backyard and moved to a villa in Valby in 2018; the range now runs to more than 40 products, including sun care, haircare and fragrance.⁴ The açai is hand-picked by a community of about 250 families in Nazarezinho do Meruú in the Brazilian state of Pará, pressed into oil there and shipped to Denmark, where every product is made.⁵⁶ The products carry the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, Ecocert COSMOS Organic and other certifications, and the company is a certified B Corp.⁶
