Why it is renowned

The R 10 Arreté replaced the R 11 Arreté as Audiovector's flagship.¹ The American magazine The Absolute Sound reviewed it and found that it outperforms every other Audiovector model, pairing a Danish look with the house sound that has stayed the same since 1979.¹ The reviewer noted the strong family likeness to the rest of the R series: a tall, narrow, boat-backed cabinet with no outriggers or pods.¹

The story

Audiovector developed the R 10 from the ground up, designing every part for it.² At the back of the cabinet sits a line array of eight 5-inch bass drivers, together about the surface of a single 15-inch woofer; putting them at the rear kept the speaker to 156 cm tall.²¹ At the front are a dual Air Motion Transformer tweeter, one for the treble and one for the highest frequencies, and three 6.5-inch carbon-sandwich drivers built on the Accelerated Force Concept, which was developed for this model.²¹

Each cabinet is vacuum-formed by hand from high-density hardwood fibreboard, braced inside and fitted with milled 6061 aluminium baffles.² It is the first Audiovector to carry the second generation of the company's Freedom Grounding system, and a three-position switch at the back adapts it to the damping factor of the amplifier.¹ The standard finishes are piano-lacquered African mahogany crotch, Canadian birdseye maple and Italian walnut burl, and each speaker weighs about 95 kg.²
