Why it is renowned
The Samuel holds one Michelin star and has kept it in every edition of the Michelin Guide from 2022 to 2026.1 Its chef and sommelier, Jonathan K. Berntsen, won the Copa Jerez, an international food and wine pairing competition, in 2013 and again in 2019.2
The story
The Samuel is named after the son of Jonathan K. Berntsen, who runs it with his team in a villa from 1891 in Hellerup.2 The kitchen takes Southern European classics as its starting point and reworks them.3 The cellar holds close to 3,000 bottles, mostly French, from Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne.2 Tables are set upstairs, in rooms furnished with Danish design and art, with a herb garden and a terrace outside.2
