Why it is renowned

Vogue Scandinavia covered the Encore programme when its Patchwork collection launched in February 2023, describing limited capsules cut wholly from leftover fabrics of earlier Bahnsen collections.1 Hypebae reported the same launch, shown at Copenhagen Fashion Week in a pop-up at the creative space Studio X from 1 to 3 February, a month before the label's Paris show.2

The story

Encore began in 2020, during the pandemic, when Cecilie Bahnsen started designing from the fabrics already kept in her studio.1 Each collection uses only archive material from past seasons; the fabrics themselves are made in mills across Europe.3 The Patchwork collection of 2023 stitched small pieces of silk plissé, matelassé and faille into the label's familiar silhouettes, among them the Tilde, Ruth, Selena, Rosie and Feo, in black and white with small flowers of yellow beading.12 It also took in curtains and bedding sewn in the atelier from leftover material.1 Its pieces were made to order and each one differs from the next.4
