Why it is renowned

Berner Kühl is a Copenhagen menswear label with a minimal, material-led style.1 It was named a finalist for the 2026 Wessel & Vett Prize, Scandinavia's largest fashion award, and was profiled by Vogue among the four finalists.1 Its garments reach buyers beyond Denmark through select retailers worldwide, alongside its own store and online shop.2

The story

Frederik Berner Kühl founded his namesake line in 2019, after graduating from Polimoda.1 The clothes draw on tailoring and technical construction and change gradually from season to season.3 Most of the fabric comes from Japan and Italy, often in limited runs.3 A small store with a studio in its basement has helped the brand grow both its own sales and its wholesale.1 Some of its outerwear is made by hand by coat makers in Scotland.2
