Why it is renowned
mfpen reworks classic European tailoring in relaxed cuts, much of it cut from surplus and deadstock cloth.1 Its work reaches beyond Denmark: in 2025 the label was named a semi-finalist for the LVMH Prize, the international award for young designers.1
The story
mfpen was founded in 2016 in Copenhagen by the Danish designer Sigurd Bank.1 The label reinterprets classic garments through relaxed silhouettes.1 Its cloth comes first from deadstock and surplus fabric left over from the fashion industry, sourced mainly from Italian and Portuguese mills; where none is available it turns to recycled and biodegradable fibres, and to certified organic cotton last.2 It now makes collections for both men and women and runs its own store in Copenhagen.3
