Why it is renowned
Besides its brand house in Copenhagen, Ferm Living has showrooms in London, Cologne, Brussels, Eindhoven and Oslo.1 The British design magazine Wallpaper* covered its Can Lis collection, 39 pieces drawn from Jørn Utzon's house on Mallorca after the Utzon Foundation invited the company's head of design to visit it.2
The story
Trine Andersen founded Ferm Living and led it as creative director until she retired in 2023; Phillipp Materna, who had spent eight years with Michael Anastassiades in London, then became head of design.2 The company works from its brand house on Kuglegårdsvej in Copenhagen, which holds its offices and its first shop.1 Its furniture, accessories and lighting are designed there and made with partners around the world.3
