Why it is renowned
Ripple is known by its rippled surface and geometric shapes.12 The architecture and design magazine Dezeen covered the first glasses and carafe when Ferm Living showed them in its Autumn Winter 2016 collection at the Northmodern fair in Copenhagen.3 Ferm Living counts it among its classics, the designs it says put the company on the map, and it has grown from one set of four glasses into a range of wine glasses, champagne saucers, bowls, carafes and more.1 The series now also takes in a thermal French press and matching thermal glasses.4
The story
The Ripple Glasses were Ferm Living's first drinking glass design.1 The design started as a set of ceramic cups, and while it was in development the set of four went under the working title "Four Sisters".1 Each piece is blown by mouth, so no two are exactly alike.1 The glasses are designed in Copenhagen, made from 70 percent recycled post-consumer glass and are a registered design.2
