Why it is renowned

MATE's first e-bike was sold through Indiegogo to buyers in 80 countries, a campaign the Cycling Embassy of Denmark described as record-breaking for a Danish startup.1 The brand has since made limited editions with Fendi, Moncler, Palm Angels and Evian.2

The story

The siblings Julie Kronstrøm Carton and Christian Adel Michael from Copenhagen started MATE after noticing that few cities are as easy to cycle in as their own.1 Their aim was an e-bike that is affordable and does not carry its battery on the luggage rack.1 The range now runs from the MATE ICON, a reworking of the first MATE City, to the MATE X EVO and a balance bike for children.2
