Why it is renowned

Vitus Audio is known among listeners abroad for solid-state amplifiers, most of all the SIA-025 integrated amplifier, which runs in pure Class A at about 25 watts or in Class AB at about 150 watts per channel.¹ The American magazine The Absolute Sound named the RI-100 and the SIA-025 Products of the Year in 2011, and gave the SIA-025 its Editors' Choice award every year from 2013 to 2017.² Other prizes came from Stereo Times and the SoundStage Network, the Polish magazine High Fidelity, and Mono & Stereo, which put the RI-101 Mk.II on its Best of 2024 list.²

In 2026 the American magazine Enjoy the Music reviewed the SIA-025 Mk.II at length.³ The company sells through approved retail partners around the world and showed its work at the High End show in Vienna in 2026.⁴⁵

The story

Hans-Ole Vitus trained in electronics at 18 and began building his own amplifiers and ribbon speakers in the mid-1980s; he founded Vitus Audio in 1995.² Eight years of development followed before the first three products, the RP-100 phono stage, the RL-100 line stage and the SM-100 mono power amplifier, were shown in Stockholm in February 2003, then in Copenhagen and at the Frankfurt show that May.² The Masterpiece Series began in 2009 with the two-chassis MP-P201 phono stage, and the Reference Series in 2010 with the RI-100 integrated amplifier.²

Every product is made by hand at the company's own facility in Denmark, where it mounts its own circuit boards and solders them in a vapour-phase oven, a method more common in aerospace and medical electronics.⁶ The company is based in Herning.⁵ In 2022 it merged with AVM-TEC, the maker of Alluxity, as AVA Group; Alexander Vitus Mogensen became chief executive and Hans-Ole Vitus returned to research and design.²
