Why it is renowned

SoundStage! Global chose the MP-M201 for The World's Best Audio System of 2012 and profiled it as the culmination of Vitus Audio's no-compromise approach.1 The same year Super AV gave it an Outstanding Overall Performance award, and Vitus Audio calls it the hardest design task in its history.23

The story

The MP-M201 was released in 2012, nine years after Hans-Ole Vitus first proposed a four-chassis power amplifier.2 Each channel has its own amplifier chassis and power supply chassis, so that the supply and all logic and control circuits stay apart from the audio, and custom cables by the Virginia Panel Corporation join them without limiting peak current.31

It is fully balanced, with no global feedback. A single input stage feeds a discrete active crossover and two output stages, so one amplifier can drive both the bass and the upper range of a speaker: up to 100 watts in Class A or 300 watts in Class AB for the higher frequencies and 500 watts for the bass.13 The power supplies are fully regulated and use transformers Vitus designed with a European transformer specialist.1 The four chassis of the current Mk.II weigh about 300 kg together, and it comes in white, black or silver.3
