Why it is renowned
The Activity Gym won the Red Dot Award: Product Design in 2016.1 The Red Dot jury called it an innovative variant of the classic play centre because of its flexible design.2 It was one of four Done by Deer designs to win a Red Dot before the fifth came in 2018.3
The story
The gym is a padded arch that stands on its own. Moving its feet changes its width and height, so it fits over the floor, a bed or a playpen and the baby can reach the toys.21 Its three hanging toys can be moved between 17 points on the arch and give five kinds of play: rattles, mirrors, crinkle sounds, shapes and textures.1 The arch is polyester filled with EVA foam, quartz sandbags and fibre; the toys are cotton.1 It folds up to be carried or put away.1
