Danish craft toys: Hama beads and the makers to know
The Danish craft toy known furthest from home is the Hama bead. Malte Haaning began making the small plastic tube beads and their pegboards in Nykøbing Mors in 1971, worked out how to fuse a finished motif with an iron later that decade, and the beads now sell in more than 50 countries.
