Why it is renowned

The Michelin Guide lists Kødbyens Fiskebar for fish and seafood and marks it an inspectors' favourite.1 Condé Nast Traveler names it among the best restaurants in Copenhagen, for its oysters and locally caught seafood, and The Guardian counts it among the restaurants in the city run by people from Noma.23

The story

The restaurant sits on Flæsketorvet in Kødbyen, the old meatpacking district of Vesterbro, in a former butcher's shop.41 The building is listed, so the rough industrial rooms were kept rather than rebuilt.2 Anders Selmer, once restaurant manager at Noma, is behind it.3 The kitchen works with locally sourced seafood and a list of fine wine; its head chef, Jamie Lee, trained in London.2
