Danish art museums: Louisiana, ARoS, the Glyptotek and more
Denmark's best-known art museums grew from private collections and a royal one. The Louisiana, opened in 1958 by Knud W. Jensen, sets modern art in a sculpture park above the Øresund. The Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek holds the brewer Carl Jacobsen's antique sculpture and a Rodin collection counted the most important outside France, and SMK, the national gallery, grew out of the art chamber of the Danish kings. In Aarhus, ARoS carries Olafur Eliasson's circular walkway of coloured glass on its roof.
