Why it is renowned
Condé Nast Traveler reviews Hotel SP34 among its Copenhagen hotels.1 The hotel lists Wallpaper*'s Best Urban Hotel award of 2014, a European Hotel Design Award and a place on Condé Nast Traveler's World's Best New Hotels in 2015, and the magazine's Readers' Choice list in 2019, 2020 and 2021.2
The story
The hotel sits at Sankt Peders Stræde 34 in the Latin Quarter, in three joined Copenhagen townhouses.21 No two of its 118 rooms are the same.2 The hallways have bare brick walls, and the headboards were made for the hotel after the back of a Danish easy chair.2 Guests check in at the lobby bar, which opens into a lounge that shows work by local artists.2 Around the hotel are three restaurants: Väkst, a bistro among plants, Cock's & Cows for burgers, and Din Nye Ven for open sandwiches.1 It belongs to Brøchner Hotels, founded in 1982 by Bergliot and Hans Brøchner-Mortensen and owned today by their son Søren and his wife Mette.3
