The story
The hotel fills two former Carlsberg brewery buildings in Copenhagen. The older, a brewery building of 1881 with a corner tower, was designed by Vilhelm Dahlerup; the other, Storage Cellar 3, was built in 1969 to hold six million litres of beer, and both are listed.3 Poul Schülein of Arkitema converted them with Christoffer Harlang of the Royal Danish Academy.3 The storage building keeps its façade of golden discs, each a nod to the bottom of a beer bottle, and some rooms have round windows; the hotel is named after Ottilia Jacobsen, Carl Jacobsen's wife.43 It belongs to Brøchner Hotels, founded in 1982 by Bergliot and Hans Brøchner-Mortensen and owned today by their son Søren and his wife Mette.2 On the roof, Tramonto serves Italian food beside a small hops garden whose hops go into the hotel's own pilsner.1
