Why it is renowned
Samsøe Samsøe has its own sales offices and showrooms in Oslo, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Munich, Düsseldorf, Paris, London and New York, and agents in Australia, Italy, Finland, Switzerland and Hong Kong.1 It is sold in more than 30 countries, has its own stores in cities such as Oslo, Amsterdam, Stockholm and Berlin, and has had shop-in-shops at Galeries Lafayette in Paris and at Harvey Nichols and John Lewis in England.2
The story
The brothers Klaus and Preben Samsøe opened the first shop in Studiestræde, in Copenhagen's Latin Quarter, in 1993.2 For its first two years it sold jewellery; then came T-shirts and knitwear, mostly for men.23
In 2000 the present owners took over and built it into a house for women's and men's clothes, shoes and accessories.3 Peter Sextus Rasmussen has led the company since then and owns it with Per-Ulrik Andersen.2 Its head office is on Ryesgade in Copenhagen.1
