GANNI has stores across Europe, the United States, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific, ships to 68 countries and is sold by the leading international department stores.1 It has offices in Copenhagen, Paris, New York and Shanghai.1 Harper's Bazaar placed it between fast fashion and haute couture, and it is one of the twenty best-selling brands on Net-a-Porter.2 Its clothes have been worn by Michelle Obama, Beyoncé and Kate Moss.1
The story
The gallerist Frans Truelsen started GANNI in 2000 as a line of cashmere clothing.2 In 2009 Ditte Reffstrup, a former buyer, and Nicolaj Reffstrup took the house over, she as creative director and he as chief executive.21 Ditte Reffstrup drew on pop culture, music and vintage rather than the runway, and set out a more playful idea of Scandinavian dressing.1 The name "GANNI Girl" dates from 2015, when Helena Christensen and Kate Bosworth were photographed in matching GANNI coats.1 The house has been a certified B Corp since 2022.1
