Nicklas Skovgaard is a womenswear brand founded in 2020 and based in Copenhagen.1 It produces two collections a year and marries classical forms with unconventional materials, such as heavy wool fused with water-repellent nylon or silk taffeta set against stretch jersey.1 It won the Wessel & Vett Fashion Prize in 2025, described by Copenhagen Fashion Week as the Nordic region's leading award for the most promising fashion entrepreneurs.2 Vogue Scandinavia reported the win, noting the label's hand-woven textiles, sculptural silhouettes and growing list of international stockists.3 Its garments are stocked abroad, including at Dover Street Market Paris, Ssense in Canada, and shops in Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States.4
The story
Skovgaard launched his eponymous label in 2020.3 The brand builds evolutionarily, producing two collections per year, each a continuation of the last.1 Its references span baroque aristocratic portraiture, childhood memories of the designer's mother, and Madonna's music videos.1 In October 2025 it won the Wessel & Vett Fashion Prize, worth 500,000 DKK, chosen over fellow finalists mfpen and Stel.23 Skovgaard had been a finalist in the same prize in 2022.2 The award, run in partnership with Copenhagen Fashion Week, includes inclusion in the week's official activities.2
