Why it is renowned

Han Kjøbenhavn opened its first shop in the United States, in New York, in 2013, its first in France, in Paris, in 2015, and a flagship on Beak Street in London in 2022.¹ Its film for the Autumn/Winter 2012 collection won a bronze Lion at the Cannes Lions festival, and the American magazines Complex and GQ named it among the leading Scandinavian menswear labels in 2013 and 2014.¹ In 2022 it made the black leather dress Julia Fox wore to the Oscars.¹

The story

Jannik Wikkelsø Davidsen founded Han Kjøbenhavn in Copenhagen in 2008; it began with eyewear and moved into clothing later.¹ Its first flagship store is at Pilestræde 30 in central Copenhagen, and it shows at Copenhagen Fashion Week each February and August.¹

Today it makes men's and women's ready-to-wear with accessories, cut in sculptural shapes.² In 2023 it bought out its investors and began selling small non-voting shares to its customers.¹
