Why it is renowned

Raw No. 5 won the Master medal, the top award, in the ultra-premium world whisky class of the Luxury Spirits Masters 2025, a blind-judged competition held in London by the trade paper The Spirits Business.12 The same paper covered the fifth release in February 2025 as the mark of five years of whisky from the distillery.3

The story

Copenhagen Distillery released its first single malt in February 2020, and Raw has come out once a year since; the fifth edition, Raw No. 5, followed in 2025 in 1,351 bottles.3 It is made from 100 percent malted organic Danish barley.4 The spirit matures for about three and a half years on average in toasted, non-charred 225-litre casks of virgin Hungarian oak.43 It is the cleanest of the distillery's three whisky lines, built on long fermentation, careful distillation and that oak.52 Each bottle is filled, sealed in wax, labelled and signed by hand at the distillery.3
