Danish mead: the meaderies to know
Mead, fermented from honey and water, is one of the oldest drinks of the Nordic countries; the earliest Nordic recipe on record was written down by the Swedish archbishop Olaus Magnus in 1555. Dansk Mjød, near Billund, brews it after a recipe from around 1700 and sells it in the United States, Taiwan and much of Europe.
