Why it is renowned

Ribe Mjød won a silver medal at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in 2017, and the competition lists it among the house's top-rated entries.1

The story

Dansk Mjød brewed Ribe Mjød for the 1300th jubilee of Ribe, the oldest town in the Nordic countries and a Viking settlement.2 The recipe was put together with Ribe Vikinge Center and adds apple and bog myrtle (Myrica gale) to honey and water.2 The apple juice brings fruit and acidity against the sweetness of the honey; the mead is 19 per cent alcohol and comes in 75 cl bottles and in 3 and 10 litre containers.2
