Why it is renowned

Two of its founders hold world titles: Klaus Thomsen won the World Barista Championship in Bern in 2006, and Casper Engel Rasmussen won the World Cup Tasters Championship in 2008.¹² The trade press calls it an influential Copenhagen coffee brand, and names it with La Cabra among the roasters that came to stand for the Scandinavian style of coffee.³⁴ Its team has taken over cafés abroad to pour its coffee, among them Rosslyn Coffee in London.²

The story

Four partners, Klaus Thomsen, Peter Nørregaard-Dupont, Casper Engel Rasmussen and Linus Törsäter, began roasting in an industrial space near Kastrup Airport in August 2007 and first served their coffee at a market on Jægersborggade in Nørrebro.⁵ Their first coffee shop opened on the same street in February 2008.⁵ The company buys directly from farmers at prices well above the market, and it printed the price it paid for the green coffee on its retail bags.⁶⁵ It roasts every day at Godthåbsvej in Frederiksberg, where its offices also sit, and opened Collective Bakery in 2021 to bake for its coffee bars.⁶ It is still owned and led by its founders; Rebecca Vang joined as chief executive after 17 years.⁶
