Why it is renowned

Miira won a German Design Award in 2019, in the category Excellent Product Design, Lighting.12 It was one of the four collections Nuura showed when it first appeared at the Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair in 2018.3

The story

The Danish lighting designer Sofie Refer drew Miira for Nuura, with the chandelier at its centre.43 At its 2018 launch the series held two large chandeliers of 13 and 6 pendants, a four-lamp chandelier, a single pendant, and lamps for the table and wall, each a blown glass globe on a rounded dark grey metal part.3 Today the frames come in brass, rock grey and dark bronze, the globes in optic clear or opal glass, and the range adds circular and oval chandeliers such as the Miira 8 Circular.5 In the Miira 6, six single pendants hang from a round ceiling plate and can be arranged in different formations.4
