Why it is renowned

Mynte is known for its fresh mint leaves, 1.8% of the recipe, in a licorice of powdered raw licorice, salmiak and sea salt.1

The story

Mynte is made in Bagsværd from fresh mint leaves and powdered raw licorice; its taste comes from the Maillard reaction between milk protein and sugar in the pot.1 After cooking, the licorice is poured into moulds, sets overnight, and is cut by hand with a sturdy knife and packed.1
