Why it is renowned
The Head Amp was Gryphon's first product. Shown at the Consumer Electronics Show in Chicago in 1986, it drew the interest of a Japanese distributor, and the Japanese audio press voted it a Best Buy.1
The story
The Head Amp began as a spare-time project, a one-off for the designers' own home systems.1 Flemming E. Rasmussen developed it as a moving-coil preamplifier for record players.2
Gryphon made the Head Amp from 1986 until 1994; its brochure and manual are kept in the company's product history.3
