Why it is renowned
The Antileon has long carried Gryphon's pure class A approach; it followed the company's first power amplifier, the DM 100.1 Reviewing the Antileon Revelation in 2026, Hi-Fi News called it perhaps the best power amplifier its reviewer had heard.1 Gryphon's product archive lists the earlier versions: the Antileon Dual Mono and Solo Monoblock of 1995 to 2000, and the Signature in mono and stereo from 2001 to 2015.2
The story
The line began in 1995 and passed through the Signature, EVO and Anniversary editions before the Revelation.13 Flemming E. Rasmussen drew the exterior and Tom Møller designed the electronics.3 The name comes from the Greek for "lion-like", and the Revelation keeps elements of the 1995 design, with Gryphon's emblem set into a black anodised disc on the top plate.1
The Revelation is a dual-mono amplifier giving 160 watts a channel in pure class A into 8 ohms.3 It has 40 bipolar Toshiba output transistors, two banks of 335,000 µF capacitors and a pair of custom-wound 1,500 VA toroidal transformers in a constrained-layer-damped case, and it weighs 90 kg; a mono version is also made.3 Three bias settings, low, mid and high, can be chosen by hand or set by a linked Gryphon preamplifier.31 It is designed and made in Denmark.3
