Why it is renowned
In 2020 the Pioneer, Nordgreen's 42 mm quartz chronograph, won a Red Dot design prize, one of ten watches honoured that year among entries from more than 60 countries.1 The Red Dot jury noted its clean dial and the red tips of its hands, a nod to Danish wind turbines.2 The watch press abroad has written about its Guardian, a mechanical watch with a case and bracelet of 85 per cent recycled steel.3
The story
Nordgreen was founded in Copenhagen in 2017 and is run from there.4 The Danish designer Jakob Wagner designs its watches, from the Native to the Pioneer.5 The Guardian runs on a Japanese Miyota 9039 automatic movement.3
