Why it is renowned
Henrik Vibskov has shown work at MoMA in New York, the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa and the ICA in London.1 He has made costumes for the Oslo Opera House, the Royal Swedish Ballet and the Brussels opera.1 His own shops are in Copenhagen, open since 2006, and New York, open since 2011.2 He received the Thorvald Bindesbøll Medal in 2016 and an Elle Style Award as brand of the year in 2020.1
The story
Henrik Vibskov was born in Kjellerup, Jutland, in 1972 and graduated from Central Saint Martins in London in 2001.1 By the label's twentieth year, in 2021, he had presented more than forty collections.1 Each collection comes with a world built around it, and his practice runs from clothes to installations, performances and exhibitions.2 He is a professor at Design School Kolding, and as a musician has worked with Trentemøller, Mikael Simpson and Hess is More.1
