Why it is renowned

Rhombe is known for its pattern of small rhombuses, first used on the oven-proof Dan-Ild service of 1961.1 In 1961 the pattern was printed on as a decoration; on Rhombe it is a relief in the porcelain itself.2 Christian Elving told Bo Bedre in 2015 that Rhombe was the new design he was proudest of, beside the Lyngby vase.2 The white service later gained coloured glazes, Rhombe Color, which the trade press Designbase covered at their launch in 2020.3 The design duo Stilleben chose the colours, each under a clear glaze that lets the relief show through.3

The story

The rhombus pattern comes from the archive of Porcelænsfabrikken Danmark, the old Lyngby factory.4 Rosendahl lists the Rhombe design as by Karakter Copenhagen.1 The range now counts 57 pieces, and the white pieces can be mixed with the glazed Rhombe Color and Rhombe Earth.5
