Why it is renowned
Its tea maker, designed by Tools Design, won gold for consumer products at the 2006 Industrial Design Excellence Awards, run by the Industrial Designers Society of America and BusinessWeek.1 The company has its own offices in Germany, Norway and Sweden, and distributors from the United Kingdom, Italy and Spain to Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Australia, Chile and South Africa.23
The story
The company was set up in 1970 as Erik Mangor A/S, became Eva Danmark A/S in 1999 and Eva Solo A/S in 2010; some of its products go back to 1913.3 It sells under three names: Eva, launched in 1950, Eva Trio, launched in 1977, and Eva Solo, launched in 1997.3 The Engelbrecht family owns it, and it is run from Måløv Teknikerby.32 Tools Design, the studio Claus Jensen and Henrik Holbæk founded in 1989, has designed for it.4 Today the Eva Solo range runs from bird feeders, lanterns and solar lamps to fireplaces, vases and TV stands.5
