Vipp kitchen

Why it is renowned

Wallpaper* describes the V1 of 2011 as the first all-metal Vipp kitchen, launched after the company had added steel toilet brushes and laundry baskets to its bins.¹ By Vipp's count the V1 stands in private homes in more than 40 countries, and the company has published two books of twenty homes each that share it, from a stone house in Sicily and a coastal home in Beirut to a ranch in Texas and lofts in Manhattan.²

The story

Vipp made its first kitchen, the V1, in 2011.² It uses the materials of the company's pedal bin: stainless steel, powder-coated steel and aluminium, and silicone.³ It stands on legs like a piece of furniture, its fronts are powder-coated steel, and a one-piece stainless-steel worktop 4 mm thick floats above the cabinets.³ It is built from five types of module (island, island with seating, island with end-seating, wall and tall units) in black, warm grey or white.³

The design has been refined over the years but not changed, and Vipp keeps spare parts for it.²³ The V2 followed in 2021 with an organic palette of materials, and the V3 swapped the powder-coated steel of the V1 for anodised aluminium.¹ With the V4, Vipp now makes four kitchen models on the same modular idea.⁴
